Calhoun Baptist Church News January 27, 2013~

Come, “Now is the Time to Worship” was once again our uplifting song on the big screen this morning to sing along with as we prepared ourselves to worship our Lord!

We had several visitors for Sunday School and Worship Services this morning.
Pastor David’s parents, Rev. & Mrs. David Van Bebber Sr. were in attendance. There were several other family members and friends visiting also. We were blessed by a special song performed by Pastor David’s mother.

Brother David read from the Book of John Ch. 15:5-8 niv and they were the key verses for his sermon.

John 15:5-8 (NIV)

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Jesus is the giver of life. Real life is found in Him and the change shows in the fruit one produces. If you are not producing fruit or have not accepted Jesus as the Life. The option is there for you today.
Are we concerned with the eternal destination of our loved ones, friends, and neighbors in our community? If we are bearing fruit we can see where God is using us and it makes us want to work even harder.

Prayers Concerns: The Family of Marjorie Parks ~Woody Howard ~ Cathy Lamb~ Frances Barrow~Gordan England~ Elaine Motzinger~ Helen Reynolds~ Kevin Thomas~ Larry Sexton~ Makenleigh Hardesty~ Becki Shildknecht~ Chad Price~ Renee Brooks ~ June Berry~ Also, remember our men and women in Service of our Country ~
If your friend or loved one is still sick and is no longer on our prayer list, they are still in our prayers because there is an extended prayer list on the main bulletin board.

The ordination for our Pastor David Van Bebber was at 2 PM.
Pastor David Van Bebber Jr. was ordained today in a worship service attended by several ordained deacons and ministers from the West Central Baptist Association. Also in attendance were Pastor Dave’s family, friends and fellow church members. Speaking at the service was David Van Bebber Sr. and Ken Edmiston. Special music performed by Brent McCune and Mark Bliss. Following the service was a reception for all attendees. ( There is more about this event on our churches’ new website calhounbaptist.org.
