Calhoun Baptist Church News February, 3, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber, Pastor:

We are learning to sing along with the music and video of “Come, Now is the Time to Worship” with the song on the big screen. Our song leader, Sister Heather Hollinger invited Sister Shonda Self and Sister Heathers daughter Gracie to stand with her and sing along so the congregation would feel like everyone should be singing along on this wonderful Contemporary Praise Song.
We would like to welcome Mike and Kacy Miller and family who were worshiping the Lord with us today.
Praise and Prayer Request is a time to announce how the Lord has blessed you and answered prayers for you and a time to request prayer from all of the congregation for your concerns.

Brother David’s reading of the Word was from the Book of John Ch. 15:12-17 niv, also these were the key verses for his sermon.

12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

In verse 17 Jesus says, if you love Me you will keep my command to love each other as I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for another. Jesus is our greatest example of this sacrifice, Jesus laid down His life for all of us even before we knew him. Three keys here in these scriptures, they are to Love each other, Accept the Role as a friend of Jesus and Know what your your Role is in the Church.

Do you love enough to live your life for your friends? Have you accepted Christ today? If you want a chance to serve, it is open for you. Find a Bible believing church and be there and love one another! You are always welcome to come worship the Savior with us!

Psalm 91niv. This Psalm is a prayer for protection for Christians to pray for their children. In verse 14 it says that the Lord will rescue those who love Him.
If your friend or loved one is still sick and is no longer on our prayer list, they are still in our prayers because there is an extended prayer list on the main bulletin board.
