Calhoun Baptist Church News Sunday May 12, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber, Pastor:

Brother Jim Bilbruck offered the opening prayer for God to be with us through-out the services and to bless each family with His Words to the benefit of our hearts and our lives.

There were presentations of Flowers this morning!
The many Mothers in our Congregation were honored this morning with each one receiving a beautiful flower. All of the next mothers mentioned received another flower. The mother who was blessed with the most children, the one with the most grandchildren, the oldest mother, the one who traveled the farthest, and the mother with the youngest child. It is such a blessing to be a Mother and Grandmother!

The reading of the Word was from Matthew 20: 20-23 NASB.

20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons, bowing down and making a request of Him. 21 And He said to her, “What do you wish?” She said to Him, “Command that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine may sit one on Your right and one on Your left.” 22 But Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They said to Him, “We are able.” 23 He said to them, “My cup you shall drink; but to sit on My right and on My left, this is not Mine to give, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.”

There are a lot of stories in the Bible about mothers. Some of them very good people and some not so good at all.

You can also find more about wives in the Bible and being a mother in these verses in Proverbs 31:10, 28 and 29.

10 A wife of noble character who can find?
    She is worth far more than rubies.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
    her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many women do noble things,but you surpass them all.”

Have you ever thought about all of the things your Mother has done for you? Mothers want only what is best for their children. Mother’s, is your prayer for your children Greatness and Success in the World? Or is it for them to be, “One of whom the World is not worthy?”

Thoughts to Ponder: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
