Calhoun Baptist Church News September 15, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber Pastor:
Brother David opened our worship services with a welcome to all and a prayer. He then reported the announcements. Our Praise and Worship song was “The Old Rugged Cross,” by Alan Jackson.
Brother David’s reading of the Word continues from the book of John :
John 17:13-17 NASB
The Disciples in the World13 But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I do not ask You to take them out of the world, but to keep them [a]from [b]the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Footnotes:
- John 17:15 Or out of the power of
- John 17:15 Or evil
In these scriptures Jesus is praying to the Father for his Disciples and this prayer also applies to His Disciples of today. The Word of God is what caused the world to hate the Disciples then and still today the evil one causes the people of this world to hate Christians with who are spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world today.
2 Timothy 2:15 (NASB)
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.
This month is Missouri Missions Month. We can help spread the Gospel by giving our offerings through the Rheubin L. South Missions.
Please Pray for Our Troops and Missionaries in Missouri and around the World.
Our thought for this week is: To truly know Jesus, is to make Him known to others!
Pastor David’s ability to ambulate on his own is improving each day! Thank you for all of the prayers for him. He says that he knows so many of you have prayed for his complete recovery.
