Calhoun Baptist Church News September 29, 2013~
Rev. David Van Bebber Pastor:
Our congregation welcomed a new baby to our midst this morning! Garret and Jennifer Dunn brought little Rose to be dedicated to God. Brother Terry Barrow and Brother David Van Bebber both prayed over her and ask Gods blessings upon her and her family. She is welcomed by two older sisters and a big brother! Everyone all offered our congratulations to the happy family! We were all in awe at such a beautiful and precious little girl!

There was a full house at the New Life Church on Sunday evening for the Singspiration! This “Worship Fellowship” is held every 5th. Sunday evening at one of these five different churches, New Life, Calhoun United Methodist, Drakes Chapel Methodist, Mt Olivet Baptist and Calhoun Baptist. The next Singspiration will be at Calhoun Baptist December 29th. at 7 PM.

The reading of the Word was from Matthew 13:24-31 NASB.

The Parable of the Weeds

24 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds[a] among the wheat and went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. 27 And the servants[b] of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’”

Here we learn about another parable. It is about tares among the wheat. Tares or darnel, a weed resembling wheat. Jesus is the sower of the seeds and the bad tares are from the devil. God intended only good for us, but there is always a deceiver among us to try to lead us away from him. There will be a Harvest for the good and for the bad, there will be a final judgment for both kinds of people on Judgment Day. God has a way out for us, Submit your self to God and flee from the devil. You can read about this in Romans 6:23 NSAB

We can help spread the Gospel by giving our offerings through the Rheubin L. South Missions. This Missouri Missions Offering continues this month.
