Calhoun Baptist Church News August 17, 2014~
Rev. David Van Bebber, Pastor
Brother David’s reading was from the book of Matthew Ch.25:31-46. This is the last Parable in the series of “Discovering the Parables of Jesus”. We have learned a lot about the way Jesus taught in parables. We commonly know them as being a short story to bring out a lesson or moral.
This last parable is “The Parable of the Talents,”
In the parable of the talents we get an idea of what God expects us to do here on earth. Jesus puts a great emphasis on how we treat other people. He means the way we help the less fortunate, go see the sick, and those who are in prison and those who are a stranger to us. There are four unique and clear themes in this final parable: Christ will return. We must be ready for His return. Our actions will be judged. There is punishment for the life that does not reflect Christ.
