“I Love You Lord” and “There’s a Sweet Sweet Spirit” were the songs we opened with on a pleasant Sunday morning. Indeed there was a sweet spirit in our body of believers as we listened to the message “Devoted Prayer” brought to us by our pastor. Using Colossians 4:2-4, we were reminded that as God’s children, it is His desire that we pray to Him. Prayer is simply talking to God and listening to Him. This is called dialogue. It is His delight to hear from us. So, devote yourself to prayer – often and regularly.

The only birthday to celebrate this week was Calhoun Baptist’s Celebrate Recovery. Lives have been changed and God has been lifted up this past year. On Sunday evening at 5:30 pm the celebration began with a delicious supper of lasagna along with other fixings and dessert. At 6:30 pm there was a worship service with “New Assembly” leading the worship music and two special gentlemen spoke interesting and inspiring words. There was a good size crowd in attendance and several visitors were present in support of the CR program. If you have not yet had the opportunity to attend CR on Sunday evenings, mark it on your calendar and plan on attending. We all have at least one hurt, hangup, or habit and can benefit from this Christ centered program.

Please continue praying for little Caroline Wilson, 4 year old Emmett Heiserman, Charlie Fields, Pat Kampe, Malachi Yoder and Gary Brown. We know the Lord is at work in these lives. Remember to spend time praying for our country and our leaders.

Gospel Kids meets every Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm. Our new unit of study is called God the Revealer. The lesson this week was “Elisha and Naaman”. If you have a child ages 3 years through 6th grade we invite them to come join us as we grow in our knowledge of God.

It is almost Easter and that means it is time to bring our offerings to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for home missions. Our gifts go to help support home missionaries and the work of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. We can all do our part in this work by praying and providing funds for our missionaries to tell others of our Savior. Please pray about what the Lord would have you give.

Come be a part of Calhoun Baptist Church where we are living, sharing, and telling the story of Christ. Bible Study begins at 10:00 am with a class to fit your need. Worship follows at 11:00 am. A nursery is available.
