Easter morning started early at Calhoun Baptist as we gathered for a meaningful sunrise
service followed by breakfast. The morning continued with an egg hunt before Sunday
School. We gathered at 11:00 am to worship our resurrected Savior. Pastor Mark brought
the Easter message based on 1 Corinthians 15. Easter is God’s promise that not only has
He risen from the grave but that we too shall be risen to heaven with Him. Easter is
special because Christ conquered death and He made it possible for us to conquer death.
The service ended with the baptism of our new brother in Christ, Leroy Brown. We
rejoiced with his obedience in following the Lord in baptism.
Happy birthday wishes are extended to Chad Price on April 14 and Claudean Brown on
April 19. We pray they will both have a very blessed year.
Continued prayers are lifted up for little Caroline Wilson, young Emmett Heiserman,
Charlie Fields, Malachi Yoder, Derick Grear and Anna Myrtle Hansen. It is such a
blessing to see the progress Pat Kampe is making after knee surgery and know our prayers
are being answered. We thank our Lord, the Great Physician, who is still in the miracle
making business.
Gospel Kids met on Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm. Our unit of study is called God the
Pursuer. Our lesson for this week was “Joel, Prophet to Judah”. Our big picture question
is What is God like? God is slow to anger, merciful, and loving. Children ages 3 years
through 6th grade are invited to join us as we learn about God and grow in our knowledge of Him.
Our collection in support of the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for home missions will
end this week. The offering goes to help support home missionaries and the work of
spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. We can all do our part by praying and providing
funds for our missionaries to tell others of our Savior. Please pray about what the Lord
would have you give.
Don’t forget about Celebrate Recovery every Sunday evening beginning at 5:30 pm with
supper. At 6:30 pm large group worship begins and then at 7:30 pm small groups meet.
We all have a habit, hurt, or hangup so feel welcome to join along.
As another school year rapidly approaches, may we all remember the students, faculty, and
staff in our prayers. Especially keep the seniors in mind as they end one aspect of their
lives and embark on a new adventure.
