Our Pastor continued with his series of messages “Following Jesus Through the Cross” this week using scripture reference Acts 2:1-13. For ten days 120 believers were gathered together in prayer. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came and filled the house. The Holy Spirit had come to Pentecost and they were filled. We celebrated all moms during the service with beautiful flowering plants. Each lady was also given a small book by author Beth Moore. The ladies of the church wore hats fashioned by Shirley Jackson.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Kay Pogue whose special day was May 8th. Drew and Melissa Willings celebrated their wedding anniversary on May 5th. We wish them many more.

We are sending prayers for Charlie Fields, Anna Myrtle Hansen, Ron and Evelyn Arthur, Katlyn Gladfelter, Jim and Shirley Bilbruck, and Lisa Baker. How thankful we are that our Lord is in the healing and miracle business.

Our unit of study in Gospel Kids is called Jeremiah and Captivity. This week the story was “Judah Was Taken into Captivity”. The big picture question is Why should we obey God? We obey God because He loves us. All children ages 3 years through 6th grade are invited to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Celebrate Recovery continues every Sunday evening beginning at 5:30 pm with supper. At 6:30 pm large group worship begins and then at 7:30 pm small groups meet. This program is for anyone and everyone as we all have a hurt, habit, or hangup.

Baccalaureate service for Calhoun seniors was be held at our church on Sunday, May 5th at 2:00 pm. A goodly number of students, parents, grandparents, and supporters attended. Keep these seniors in mind as they end one aspect of their lives and embark on a new one.

We are gearing up for Vacation Bible School which will be held June 3-7. A light meal will be served at 5:30 and Bible School will be 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Bible stories, missions, games, crafts, music, fun, and friendship will be found during an action packed week as we go “Into the Wild”. All children ages 3 years through 6th grade are welcome to attend. Plan now to send your youngsters.

At Calhoun Baptist Church we are living, sharing, and telling the story of Christ. We invite you to come join us as we praise, worship, and serve our risen King.
