Church News – May 24th

“We Have Come Into His House” was the name of the hymn we sang as we came together to worship the Lord. How fortunate we are to live in a country where we can gather and worship publically.

Special wishes go out this week to Jennevea Ridgway who celebrated her birthday on May 19th. There we no anniversary celebrations.

We are keeping in our prayers Anna Myrtle Hansen, Ron and Evelyn Arthur, Katlyn Gladfelter, Jim and Shirley Bilbruck, and Lisa Baker. Let us pray for comfort for the families of Arnie Drendel and Bonnie Manley who went home to be with the Lord.

Our unit of study in Gospel Kids is called Jeremiah and Captivity. This week the story was “Judah Was Taken into Captivity”. The big picture question is Why should we obey God? We obey God because He loves us. All children ages 3 years through 6th grade are invited to join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Celebrate Recovery continues every Sunday evening beginning at 5:30 pm with supper. At 6:30 pm large group worship starts and then at 7:30 pm small groups meet. Colossians 3:9 says “Do not lie to each other. You have left your old sinful life and the things you did before.” Does your walk match your talk? What in your life is interfering with you doing God’s will? These are just two of the questions that were examined recently in CR. Please feel welcome to come and check out this program any Sunday evening.

We are praying, preparing and gearing up for Vacation Bible School on June 3-7. A light meal will be served at 5:30 and Bible School will be 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Bible stories, missions, games, crafts, music, fun, and friendship will be found during an action packed week as we go “Into the Wild”. All children ages 3 years through 6th grade are welcome to attend. Plan now to send your youngsters.

At Calhoun Baptist Church we are living, sharing, and telling the story of Christ. We invite you to come join us as we serve our risen King.
