Church News – August 16th

“God’s Ways” was the title of Pastor Mark Abney’s message on Sunday. Continuing in Acts his scripture text was Acts 8:26-40. Philip met the Ethiopian Eunich on the road because the Holy Spirit told him to “GO”. God had been using Philip in amazing ways and the eunich came to know Jesus and was baptized. We see many examples in the Bible where God is at work. He gives us the Bible so we can be equipped. God is always at work. He asks us to step out of our comfort zone and make a major adjustment. When he does, we should be obedient.

We celebrate the birthdays of Gracie Hollinger, August 11th, and Pam Townsend, August 14th this week. The happiest of birthday wishes go out to these special ladies.

Please continue praying for the following people: Anna Myrtle Hansen, Gary Johnson, Phyllis Richey, Mel Gatsy, Sandy Castle, Paula Kohl, Charles Decker, Alyson Paul and Jayden Ingersoll. God is faithful to answer our prayers. Let’s also remember our teachers and students as they return to school. We pray for their safety and success.

Celebrate Recovery meets every Sunday evening beginning at 5:30 pm with supper. At 6:30 pm large group worship starts and then at 7:30 pm small groups meet. Join us at CR on Sunday evenings and learn how to overcome your hurts, hangups, and habits. Receive God’s grace.

We invite you to worship with us at Calhoun Baptist Church where we are striving to live, share, and tell the story of Christ. Come along beside us, grow in your knowledge of the Lord, and find your place in His work. Sunday School starts at 10:00 am with a class for every age. Then join us for worship at 11:00 am. There is always room for you.
