Church News – September 6th

Pastor Mark brought the message “Answering the Call” based on Acts 9:23-34. Paul needed helpers on his missionary journeys. If Barnabus hadn’t come along side Paul, he would never have been able to preach as he did. We are all called to unity in spreading God’s word and work. Everyone needs a “battle buddy”, someone to help them in the Lord’s work. Every Christian needs another Christian. We were never called to save the world alone.

We wish a happy birthday to David (Hoss) Rima who celebrated on September 4. We pray he has a great year.

Our prayers continue for Naomi Grace, Sandy Castle, Robert Fields, Alyson Paul, Paula Kohl and Charles Decker. Heartfelt condolences are expressed to the Floretta Manual family and the Richard Sherrer family. Remember in prayer all those affected by Hurricane Dorian. We know God hears and answers our prayers. Praise be to God.

Gospel Kids meet on Wednesday nights from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. The lesson this week was “Daniel Was Rescued” from Daniel 6. Daniel was faithful to God, and God rescued him from the lions’ den. We invite all children in kindergarten through sixth grades to come join us in the fun.

Every Sunday evening at 5:30 pm Celebrate Recovery begins with supper, at 6:30 pm is large group worship and then at 7:30 pm small groups meet. This week was testimony week. The group enjoyed the personal testimony of a precious lady who shared what Jesus has done and continues to do in her life. We were blessed by her sharing. You too can be blessed by the fellowship of CR.

On Sunday, September 8th we will gather to worship as a community at the Calhoun Colt Show Community service. Come worship with us at 10:30 am on the Calhoun square for a unique outdoor service followed by a contributed dinner.

We invite you to join us for worship at Calhoun Baptist Church where we are living, sharing, and telling the story of Christ. Come along beside us, grow in your knowledge of the Lord, and find your place in His work.
