Church News – September 13th

Last weekend was the Calhoun Colt Show and with that the Community Church service. Due to the weather, churches in the community joined together for worship at Calhoun Methodist instead of outdoors. The attendance was good and it warmed our hearts to jointly lift up our voices in praise. This year the message was brought by Rev. Larry Hill of Mt. Olivet as he reminded us of what God’s word says about conflicts in this day and age. The service was followed by a community dinner. We all look forward to next year.

Our prayers continue for Naomi Grace, Sandy Castle, Robert Fields, Alyson Paul, Paula Kohl and Charles Decker. Let’s continue prayer for all affected by Hurricane Dorian. We know God hears and answers our prayers.

The lesson this week in Gospel Kid’s was “God Brought His People Home” from Ezra 1 – 2. God changed the king’s heart so the Israelites could go home. All children in kindergarten through sixth grades are welcome to come join us on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 7:00 pm..

Each Sunday evening at 5:30 pm Celebrate Recovery begins with supper. At 6:30 pm large group worship begins and at 7:30 pm small groups meet. This week’s lesson was on Relapse. R – reserve a daily time for God, E – evaluate yourself, L – listen to Jesus, A – alone and quiet time, P – plug into God’s power through prayer, S – slow down so you can hear God, E – enjoy your journey. Reserve a daily time with God and “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” Colossians 3:16.

Next Sunday, September 22, we will have our annual church picnic at Windsor Park. Come join us at 5:30. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drink will be provided. Please bring side dishes and prepare to have a great time.

Worship with us at Calhoun Baptist Church where we are living, sharing, and telling the story of Christ. Come along beside us, grow in your knowledge of the Lord, and find your place in His work.
