What do you fish for on your spiritual walk? That was the question Pastor Mark Abney opened within Part 2 of his sermon titled What Are You Fishing For?. Using Luke 5:1-11 as his text Pastor Mark reviewed the story of the large catch of fish Peter and the other disciples made after a long night of no luck. However, when they listened to the Lord and followed his instructions, they hauled in a tremendous net full of fish. At that moment Peter didn’t feel worthy to be near Jesus. His focus was on himself. This kind of thinking is not Christianity; it’s religion. Christianity is when we focus on Jesus. If you’re fishing without Jesus, you’re practicing religion. Be sure you are fishing with and for Jesus. You will find forgiveness and restoration.
